About FOBC

We are learning as we go along! Launched in 2022, there are presently just a handful of us actively promoting this new Friends group and we are really hoping to encourage more people to join us. There was, in fact, a historical Friends group, as evidenced by an old plaque on the front door of the only remaining Chapel – now a popular Romanian Orthodox Church, St Paisie.

Our aim is simply help improve and enhance the intrinsic beauty of this small but perfectly formed local municipal cemetery! Not all people are able and active to help with some gardening and we appreciate that many people do not have a surplus of spare time or energy. We would welcome more willing volunteers to join us by becoming an active member. Passive members are also welcome! ...Just for the price of a large cup of coffee on a motorway service station! Any contributions will be much appreciated

This group is not about raising funds. Yet, if we manage to raise some money through membership dues or possibly, grants, we will only ever spend it, by agreement of Friends, on whatever will benefit the cemetery – in collaboration with the staff on site.

Over time we hope to add more and more material on the web site… any local historians out there please get in touch!
